Flos, 2019

Further elaborating on some of the previous lamp 'WireRing'1 design principles, Formafantasma is using the power cable as one of the leading design features. The cable is flattened to resemble a belt made of rubber and hanging from the ceiling and holds a ribbed glass extrusion containing a LED light source.

The lamp can be installed as a single piece, or repeated to obtain elaborate visual compositions, and it is reduced in size once packed. On a material level, the lamp plays on the contrast between the rubber's industrial feeling and the sophistication of glass.

1. WireRing. WireRing film. Composed of just two elements, the Flos WireRing wall light, designed by Formafantasma, is an exercise of reduction: using only the most essential elements to create something outstanding.
